Step Up to the Plate of L.I.F.E. (Living in Full Excellence)

Spiritual Fitness and Spiritual Nutrition

Nutrition plays an integral role in our survival and overall well-being. What we consume, or neglect to consume, shapes our being in ways beyond measure. The power of balanced spiritual nutrition is a delicate dance, for too little or too much of certain nutrients which are substances that provide nourishment essential for growth; can lead to a host of afflictions that affect your emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical selves, resulting in Spiritual Malnutrition. You are what you eat. This pertains not only to physical food but also to what you feed your spirit and mind. When you are malnourished, it means you lack the proper energy and nutrients to help you grow and heal when going through life challenges and stresses. When life starts life-ing and you’re spiritually unfit it can cause an imbalance in the four core areas of your life: resulting in chaos and confusion, lack of peace and joy, unfulfillment, unproductivity, and fear all which can lead to depression and anxiety.

In 2010, while going through a season of homelessness, God and spiritual fitness is what kept me in my 'right mind' and pushing forward as I used what I deemed rock bottom as a launching pad that felt like a trampoline many years after this experience. I received a download from God to spiritualize food in a way that compared it to a four-course meal. While in Ubuntu, a shelter I resided in for single mothers, one of our chores was to plan and cook dinner for the other mothers and children. This was a time, where we all came together as one. My passion for cooking and food, coupled with the belief that, much like music, food serves as a universal language, motivated me to develop Step Up to the Plate of LIFE™ and Life's Four-Course Meal™.

I initially conceived this concept as a method to address the imbalance the four fundamental aspects and foundations of my life, that were consistently causing challenges during my twenties and thirties. I likened these areas to a four-course meal, drawing a parallel to the typical dining experience at a restaurant where an appetizer precedes the main course, followed by a salad, and concluding with dessert. Just as a well-rounded meal leaves you feeling satiated and content, your life can be viewed through the lens of a four-course meal™, with the degree of attention given to each aspect determining your overall sense of fulfillment. Delve further to gain a deeper understanding of this analogy.

You are just getting started.

APPETIZER COURSE

Your appetizer course on the menu of L.I.F.E. corresponds to your Health and Wellness. This course focuses on YOU. While this focus may appear self-centered to some, it serves as an invitation to reconnect with your inner child essence. At birth, our primal instincts prioritize our individual needs and desires without concern for external perceptions You get back to that attitude in this course. Overindulgence in this course may foster selfishness, whereas insufficient attention may lead to feelings of insecurity low self-esteem and inauthenticity. What you feed this area of your life will enhance your relationship and overall health around yourself. This includes mental, physical, and emotional health, self-love and self-care, self-development, self-awareness, self-confidence, and more. In a restaurant, the appetizer is the first course to get the party started and whet your appetite while giving you the desire to want more food. The quality of the appetizer often hints at the overall dining experience. A lackluster appetizer may indicate the level of nourishment and quality to expect from subsequent courses. This also applies to yourself, once you get a 'taste' of who you really are, especially in the eyes of God, you are going to want more out of life. You also communicate to the world how to consume you by how you treat and what you feed yourself in this area.

The Substance of LIFE

THE MAIN COURSE

Your main course of L.I.F.E. corresponds to your Spirituality. What you feed this area of your life will enhance, strengthen, and grow your relationship with God the Creator of your LIFE. This course pours into your spiritual health. It reflects your moral, spiritual, and soul compass; including your values, beliefs, faith, thought patterns, your subconscious, spirituality, religion, and just your overall connection to that which is Greater than YOU.

You can never consume too much from this course but a lack of consumption, can cause a shaky foundation on which you build your life upon. Your belief system influences your thoughts, your emotions, and your words. If you want to know what's on a person's heart, listen to what they speak about. Therefore, what you believe determines your behavior. How you behave can have a profound effect on your DESTINY. Your beliefs also change throughout life, but there are always fundamental values that stick and stay with you, no matter what. Unlike the other courses, this is the only course that you can consume by itself and still become FULL-filled. If you ONLY eat from the other three courses, you will still feel hungry and thirsty for more out of life. The other three courses cannot and will not sustain you by themselves. Your Main Course is the foundational course and is usually discovered after you get a taste of who you are...it has always been there, but your Appetizer Course leads you back to it.

Are You Eating Enough Greens?

THE SALAD COURSE

Your salad course of L.I.F.E. corresponds to your Finances and your consciousness around wealth and poverty. If you consume too much from this course, money and 'success' becomes your main focus and target and usually will result in you doing anything to achieve it; including lying, compromising your integrity, stealing, killing and trying to destroy others to achieve it. On the other hand, a lack of consumption in this course causes lack, a poverty mindset, and a 'living paycheck to paycheck' mentality. What you feed this area of your life will determine your relationship with currency and your financial health. Currency is the ability to find productive, lucrative, smart and valuable currents that help your cash flow for the betterment of you and those around you. This course includes your financial literacy and stability, career, entrepreneurship, investments, assets, and more. How do you steward and grow this area of your life?

Make Life 'Sweet'

THE DESSERT COURSE

Your dessert course of L.I.F.E. corresponds to your Relationships, Social Life, Creativity, and Imagination. This course is what makes life sweet (pun intended). What you feed this area of your life, pours into the ships of your life. Ships are vessels that carry you from one place to another. They can carry you to a place of love, laughter, empowerment, healing, security, vulnerability and prosperity, or they can carry you to a place of trauma, anxiety, resentment, bitterness, insecurity, guardedness and poverty. These include your friendships, familial-ships or kinships, companionships, professional work or business partnerships, and overall relationships. Just as the other courses, balance is key. If you eat too much from this course, you could become a people pleaser, sacrificing your own needs over others or life can become all play and no work. However, not eating enough can turn your life into a dull and monotonous existence, perhaps even adopting a secluded lifestyle, something like a hermit. This course also includes the power in which you use your imagination, creativity, gifts, and talents all important tools given to you by God to assist you in creating the life you deserve and desire and for the betterment of society.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” *Marianne Williamson
